Undergraduate Medical Education Fellow

Clinical Teaching Fellow positions available for one-year fixed-term posts based at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust (ICHT). We are looking for enthusiastic and innovative Clinical Teaching Fellows who have a keen interest in education delivery, for a one-year, out-of-training program post in undergraduate medical education. This is an exciting opportunity for someone keen to develop and improve their skills as an educator and enhance their project skills.

We encourage our Fellows to join our priority project work, with opportunities to lead patient safety, student support, and immersive technology education projects. Protected timetabled sessions allow Fellows to pursue their specialist clinical interests. Our close collaboration with Imperial College provides enriching networking and developmental opportunities. We also encourage and fund postgraduate certificates in education and support our Fellows to engage in educational research, complete publications, and present at national conferences.

Interviews are expected to take place in the week commencing 16 March 2026. As demand for high-quality medical student placements continues to grow, we have recently expanded our Fellow cohort to ensure we can meet increasing placement requirements and maintain excellent educational support for learners. Fellows are often the first point of contact for medical students on placement and therefore have a pivotal role in all aspects of education delivery, student assessments, and student welfare. This includes delivering a range of medical education sessions in safe learning environments, coordinating student timetables, and participating in student exams.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential Qualifications:

• Medical qualification with registration at the GMC
• Eligible to enter core training (post Foundation Year 2)

Desirable Qualifications:

• Eligible to commence a PG course or equivalent

Essential Experience:

• Strong interest and involvement in medical education and previous experience of successful delivery of teaching
• Experience working as a doctor in an NHS Trust

Desirable Experience:

• Awareness of current educational initiatives with regard to patient safety, quality improvement, risk management, cross-speciality training
• Experience in student timetable development and design
• Participation in Quality Improvement projects
• Experience in administration, including timetables and/or rota management, with flexibility in planning

• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in partnership with others across the range of professions and levels of seniority
• Ability to plan and organise own work to deadlines with minimal supervision
• Good teaching skills and keen to develop teaching skills further
• Strong written and oral communication skills, with an ability to negotiate with staff at all levels
• Good presentation skills
• Able to work independently and within a formal team structure both as leader and team member
• An ability to use information technology effectively (in particular the range of Microsoft Office programs) and to manage data intelligently
• Self-motivating with a flexible approach to work and ability to work independently
• Able to manage simultaneous workstreams and deliver to deadlines
• Able to manage fluctuating workloads
