RCT Council is preparing to recruit to its Graduate Programme, offering fantastic opportunities to work in a vibrant environment, learn new and transferable skills, meet people from a range of backgrounds and develop a professional career in Rhondda Cynon Taf. All Graduate Officers will be supported to complete either a Level 4 Project Management qualification or job-related technical training (all fully funded) as part of the programme.

The Refurbishment and Improvements Team is a newly formed team following a recent restructure, and is focused on delivery of Conversions, Extensions, Demolitions, Refurbishments, Capital Programme of Works and Project Appraisals. The workload will continue to increase and we are building a balanced team to meet this demand. Current projects include weathertightness works on a Grade II listed building (£1.5 m), swimming pool de-carbonisation (£1.2 m), stand-alone school buildings (£5 m each), school fit-out (£1 m), office fit-out (£0.5 m) and general refurbishments and improvements from £10,000 upwards. The Education Summer Works Programme is also being formulated, with the Local Education Authority looking to spend £2.85 m this summer.

We are seeking a Graduate Officer to work within the Refurbishment and Improvements Team in Corporate Design and welcome applications from graduates with a degree qualification in Project Management, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Building Surveying or a related discipline. The successful candidate shall assist the Refurbishment and Improvements Team in the delivery of a varied and diverse portfolio of projects. The candidate will gain significant experience and knowledge of the construction process, use of specialist software such as Microsoft Project and project delivery software, and other software for specifications, budget costs and project programmes.
