Overview

The Tax Reporting Graduate Trainee will participate in a three-year training contract focused on VAT compliance and advisory services for a range of corporate clients, including multinational and UK-listed and private companies, government, not-for-profit organisations, and financial institutions.

Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of high-quality VAT compliance on a portfolio of clients.
  • Research VAT technical questions and gather background information and useful publications for the senior VAT team.
  • Assist senior team members to develop the business and seek new fee-earning opportunities within the client base and externally.
  • Support the VAT team with preparation of VAT return calculations.
  • Participate in written and verbal communications with HMRC and liaise with the VAT team on issues or findings.
  • Develop and apply technical knowledge gained from studies and on-the-job experience; present on relevant VAT topics to internal or external audiences.

By End of Year Three

  • Manage a portfolio of clients as a main point of contact and coordinate with other advisors.
  • Develop the VAT service offering and assist on projects across sectors.
  • Support managers in developing business and seeking new opportunities.
  • Advise clients and partners about VAT changes in legislation and practice.
  • Oversee delivery of VAT projects with technical excellence and practical business focus.
  • Negotiate with HMRC on behalf of clients and proactively identify opportunities for new work.
  • Maintain strong client relationships and deliver high levels of service.

Fully funded professional qualification for this role: ATT/CTA. The program includes coaching, mentorship, time off to study, and a blended training approach (in-person and virtual).
