Your Next Role

Are you a recent or upcoming graduate looking to kickstart your career in building surveying?

Join our team to gain hands‑on experience managing and maintaining a diverse local authority property portfolio.

Under the mentorship of senior professionals, you will develop your technical expertise, learn to identify building defects, and build a strong foundation for your professional accreditation.

You Will Support The Inspection, Repair, Maintenance, And Improvement Of The Council’s Housing And Corporate Property Portfolio.

  • Working Under The Guidance Of Experienced Professionals, You’ll
  • Assist with condition surveys and defect diagnosis across housing and corporate buildings. Identify common risks, defects and compliance issues under supervision.
  • Help draft basic technical work packages and specifications under expert guidance.
  • Support the collection and reporting of data on service level agreements (SLAs), key performance indicators (KPIs), and statutory obligations.

Supporting budget tracking, contractor performance reviews, and invoice processing.

  • Contribute ideas for improving processes and service outcomes.
  • Learn to apply CDM regulations and promote safe working practices on site.
  • Respond to routine enquiries, explaining technical matters clearly.
  • What We Are Looking For
  • Education: A degree (or expected completion) in Building Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Professional Goals: A strong desire to work towards professional accreditation.
  • Technical Knowledge: A foundational understanding of UK building regulations and building pathology.
  • Practical Skills: Familiarity with basic surveying techniques and the ability to interpret technical drawings.
  • Tools: Competence in Microsoft Office and in house systems.
  • Attributes: Proactive, eager to learn, and highly safety conscious.

You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act for the effective performance of a customer‑facing role).

The role requires travel throughout the Borough and access to a vehicle to undertake property inspections and site visits.
