We’re looking for a Level 0 Software Engineer to join Cold Banana for a placement-based degree or related work experience. At this level, you’ll be supported and guided by our experienced Level 1, 2 and 3 developers. You’ll work closely with your dedicated mentor and team leader as you build confidence and skills, gradually taking on smaller independent tasks, typically within support and BAU projects.
The Role
- Write clean, efficient, and testable code based on specifications using .NET languages.
- Follow company standards and best practices in development, documentation, and maintenance.
- Develop and maintain databases (SQL) and manage data flow between software.
- Build web and app applications using modern technology stacks.
- Take part in peer code reviews.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing software.
- Verify and deploy simple web architectures.
- Assist project managers by helping estimate task durations and deliverables.
- Take part in ongoing training and development opportunities.
Requirements
- Some hands‑on experience with programming languages such as C#, C++, JavaScript, Java, Python, or PHP.
- Personal or academic experience with web technologies (HTML, CSS, and SCSS).
- Basic understanding of computing concepts and code theory.
- Familiarity with data structures and data theory.
- Comfortable using code authoring tools.
- Knowledge of GIT version control.
