Prestwick AeroSystems is one of Ayrshire’s largest employers and part of the Airbus family of companies. From our Prestwick site, we manufacture and assemble wing components for Airbus aircraft used worldwide.
As a Graduate Apprentice, you will develop strong engineering foundations through structured learning, mentoring and exposure to quality investigations, production processes and design data. You will support activities that ensure compliance with aerospace standards and help maintain the quality of components manufactured on‑site. Your work will contribute to the accuracy, reliability and regulatory compliance of aircraft structures and assemblies.
How You Will Contribute- Support investigations into live production issues using engineering data and measurement tools
- Review drawings, specifications and build processes to ensure compliance
- Contribute to inspections of structures, assemblies and components using approved aerospace methods
- Apply structured problem‑solving to identify root causes and support corrective actions
- Use digital tools to record findings and drive continuous improvement
- Collaborate with design, manufacturing and quality teams across the business
- Core engineering competencies aligned to UK‑SPEC (IEng)
- Mathematics, numerical tools, production and design fundamentals
- Mechanical, electrical and electronic systems
- Advanced engineering project work in later years
- Exposure to digital engineering tools
- Flexible admissions with individual consideration
- Typically four Scottish Highers at grade B or above including Maths (or equivalent)
- Progression from Foundation Apprenticeships or relevant vocational learning welcomed
- Interest in quality, manufacturing or design engineering
- Comfortable working with technical information, tolerances and measurements
- Methodical approach to engineering processes
- Motivated to build capability in aerospace quality
