About the Programme

We offer a two‑year Graduate Programme that provides you with the opportunity to learn your graduate role, participate in masterclasses, insights, development days, and bespoke graduate training. You will learn from our talented colleagues, be mentored, and gain hands‑on experience. We want you to love what you do, learn quickly, broaden your horizons, and make a difference from day one.

About the Role

As a Graduate Engineer in our Avove Ireland team, you will have an interest in water and wastewater engineering and join the Base Maintenance, Design and Build Capital Works teams. The role supports sites across Northern Ireland from our base in Newry and requires travel. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team, working on projects covering all aspects of water and wastewater networks and treatment facilities – from feasibility and detailed design through to construction. You will spend the outset of the role between office and site to gain valuable experience and a full understanding of how we work. This role starts in September and is not eligible for Skilled Worker Visa sponsorship.

Typical Day

  • Support Project Managers and delivery teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Take part in daily site briefings with subcontractors and delivery teams, focusing on Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) risks.
  • Assist in preparing and reviewing risk assessments and method statements (RAMS), ensuring compliance with Avove and client standards.
  • Supervise subcontractors on site to ensure Avove quality and health & safety standards are upheld.
  • Support site setting out, surveys, inspections, and record newly built non‑infrastructure projects.
  • Help ensure works are constructed in accordance with design specifications and relevant standards.
  • Compile quality assurance documentation, including inspection and test plans (ITPs), site records, testing certificates, and operation & maintenance manuals for client handover.
  • Prepare as‑built records and contribute to assurance packs to evidence compliance and quality.

About You

We want graduates who challenge the status quo, encourage diverse viewpoints, drive creativity, and bring insights from their education and life experiences. You should be agile, resilient, and ready to tackle real industry challenges. You will be computer literate, possess strong written and oral communication skills, and be able to work both independently and as part of a team. You should be organised, self‑driven, and detail‑oriented with a desire for continuous development. A degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Construction Engineering, or Construction Management is required to satisfy the current entry requirements for Professional Engineering Association qualifications (e.g., CEng, IEng, IMechE, IET) or equivalent professional qualifications for technical disciplines relevant to engineering.
