Your development will be formed by on-the-job industry experience where you’ll take on real responsibilities. To support your growth, you will have a line manager, a buddy and a mentor. You will grow your career and learn skills to help you navigate off the scheme, how to build connections and develop your strengths.
The role
You’ll get to work across our plant operations in a series of three 12 month rotations across 3 years. These are designed to give you breadth and depth of knowledge, exposure to industry experts and skills including core experiences of food manufacturing, project engineering, continuous improvement and people leadership.
Rotations type
Role
You will have the opportunity to work across a variety of teams in Engineering & Manufacturing. Your rotations will include roles such as:
- Process Engineer
Improving processes to maximize productivity and quality. Continuous improvement of current and new processes to maximize the productivity in our manufacturing sites. Involved with the day to day production of our equipment growing your expertise and knowledge.
- Project Engineer
Managing projects from planning through to commissioning. Researching production methods and tools to ensure that we stay ahead, producing proposals and recommendations. Managing your own projects on a variety of large and smaller scale schemes. Covering end to end project management from planning, sourcing, installing, commissioning, and reviewing performance.
- Production Line Management
Leading and developing a production team to deliver safely, efficiently and to the highest quality. You will manage a team responsible for one (or more) of our manufacturing lines, to deliver against safety, quality, cost, sustainability and morale metrics to deliver the product safely, at the correct quality and cost to the marketplace.
Where you will work
- You will complete one rotation at our iconic Bournville plant in Birmingham and must be mobile to spend time at one or more of our other esteemed UK sites:
- Chirk (Wrexham) – The start of the chocolate journey with cocoa bean processing and drinking chocolate
- Marlbrook (Worcestershire) – our milk processing plant – fundamental in producing our unique chocolate crumb
- Sheffield – mint and candies manufacturing, the home of Bertie Bassett, sour patch kids and many more!

Candidate Requirements
- A recent graduate with a predicted 2:1 or achieved degree or equivalent in one of the following disciplines:
- Mechanical, Chemical
- Electrical and Automation Engineering or a related Engineering or Manufacturing Degree
- Must have a keen interest in FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods)
- In order for you to get the most out of our graduate scheme we require flexibility of location between rotations within UK
This position does not meet the minimum salary requirements for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship. Therefore, we are unable to consider applicants who require sponsorship.
The offer
- Starting salary £33,000 plus £2,000 sign-on bonus
- Bi-annual pay reviews and performance-related bonus
- 35 days annual leave including bank holidays
