This is an opportunity to spend your summer learning from and contributing to the NHS. This internship is now in its sixth year, with alumni from Harvard, MIT, London, Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, Manchester, and Brunel Business Schools.

Who Can Apply?

This post is offered as a professional development summer internship for people part way through or who have just completed an MBA or closely linked programme (e.g., MPA). Its intention is to give insights and experiences of working inside a large NHS organization, whilst the NHS organization benefits from the candidate's own knowledge, experience, and ideas. Candidates do not need prior experience of the NHS or the healthcare industry. Equally, candidates with such experiences are also very welcome to apply themselves in a new context to support their professional development. The intention of this programme is to attract talented candidates with diverse industry, functional, and professional skills and backgrounds who can use this internship to explore career opportunities within the NHS and gain relevant experience for future applications. Last year, 16 placements were hosted across 11 different NHS organizations in London. This year, we are also exploring placements in other large cities.

Working at NHS London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust (LNWH) cares for the people of Brent, Ealing, Harrow, and beyond. They are the host organization for this placement. If successful, you will likely be placed at another NHS organization in London or another major UK city. Our team of more than 8,200 clinical and support staff serves a diverse population of almost one million people.

We Run Major Acute Services At Northwick Park Hospital: home to one of the busiest emergency departments (A&E) in the country. The hospital provides a full range of services including the country's top-rated hyper-acute stroke unit and one of only three hyper-acute rehabilitation units in the UK. St Mark's Hospital: an internationally renowned specialist centre for bowel disease. Ealing Hospital: a busy district general hospital providing a range of clinical services, as well as a 24/7 emergency department and urgent care centre, and specialist care at Meadow House Hospice. Central Middlesex Hospital: our planned care site, hosting a range of surgical and outpatient services, and collocated with an urgent care centre.

We are a university teaching NHS trust, in recognition of the important role we play in training clinicians of the future and bringing the benefits of research to the public.
