About The Role
Are you a Graduate Surveyor looking for a new challenge and APC experience? Our in‑house Strategic Property team is instrumental in providing property advice and support to all departments across South Oxfordshire District Council and Vale of White Horse District Council. As we are expanding our team, we are looking to recruit a Graduate Surveyor who has completed an RICS accredited degree course and who wants to or already has embarked on their APC programme to join our friendly team, to help support the future growth and direction of this busy service.
You are a personable, positive, motivated and highly enthusiastic property graduate, with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, capable of progressing work through your own initiative combined with appropriate supervision. You will enjoy working as part of a team. You are a competent user of the Microsoft suite and have good verbal and written communication skills to allow effective communication with colleagues and customers at all levels. You will have a co‑operative and flexible approach to work, combined with an ability to work under pressure and prioritise appropriately, to allow you to meet targets and deadlines. You will display accountability and responsibility for your work and will be both methodical and well‑organised. You will act professionally at all times. You will be able to travel around the Districts as required. We are positively seeking applications from property graduates seeking their first role, however, applicants with local authority work experience would be welcome.
Professional Development and Benefits
In return, you will be assigned to a specific Senior Property Surveyor who will guide you in your professional development and oversee your day‑to‑day work. You will also be assigned a Counsellor to support you in your APC. In addition, you will receive a generous holiday allowance of 26 days, plus time off between Christmas and New Year, professional membership fees paid, career average pension and support for your health and wellbeing. You will benefit from truly flexible working, known as annualised hours – you will have a yearly total of hours to work, rather than a weekly figure, which will allow greater flexibility to manage your workload and balance work and home responsibilities – surplus hours can be booked as time off.
