Uniper Technologies focuses on Uniper\’s energy technologies and engineering activities, supporting our assets and enabling ambitious decarbonisation goals. An opportunity has arisen for a Graduate Materials Engineer in the Materials & Structural Analysis Team within the Integrity and Quality Management Department, starting in September 2025.

In this role, you will provide materials engineering support to Uniper\’s power generation assets and the wider business, including failure investigations, technical support, component examination, and R&D. This position offers the chance to work on diverse technical issues alongside experienced engineers and to support our existing assets while preparing for future low-carbon energy projects. You will receive on-the-job and formal training, working towards your Chartership.

Your Responsibilities

  • Failure investigations of power plant components such as high temperature and high pressure vessels, piping, turbines, and wind turbines to determine root causes.
  • Develop corrective actions and preventative measures to mitigate future failures.
  • Advise on materials, coatings, corrosion, and integrity/defect assessments.
  • Engage in R&D, including life extension of materials and development of advanced materials for new and next-generation power plants, including decarbonisation technologies.
  • Deliver accurate and concise technical reports.

You will have opportunities to support Uniper\’s international assets remotely and on-site in Germany, the Netherlands, and Sweden, requiring travel within the UK and possibly Europe.

Your Profile

  • A minimum 2:2 degree, or higher, in Materials Engineering, Materials Science, Metallurgy, or Corrosion Science.
  • Strong analytical skills and keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment to meet project goals.
  • Good computer literacy.
  • Willingness to travel and hold a full UK driving license.
