About PLS Solicitors

PLS Solicitors is a well-established UK law firm specialising in conveyancing (the legal process of buying/selling property). We have built a strong reputation within the industry and continue to grow and evolve as a business. We combine legal expertise with a focus on improving how we work, using technology to enhance our processes and client experience. As we continue to explore how AI can support the business, we are building an internal AI capability designed to bring fresh thinking, experimentation and practical application into a real‑world environment.

About The Role

This is not a typical graduate programme.

  • Location: Altrincham, Manchester – hybrid
  • Hours: Full‑time, Mon‑Fri, 9:00‑17:00 (part time considered for final‑year or postgraduate students)
  • Salary: £38‑45k for full‑time hours

We are looking for a Graduate AI Developer to join our growing technology team and play a central role in shaping how AI is used across the business. You’ll work directly with the Head of IT and Head of Development, helping define where AI can create value and building solutions that support real operational challenges. From day one, you’ll work on meaningful projects with genuine ownership. Rather than following a predefined task list, you’ll be given problems to explore, research and solve – using your technical knowledge, curiosity and initiative to bring ideas to life.

This Role Would Suit

  • A 2026 graduate in AI, Computer Science, Data Science or a related field
  • A recent graduate (2024/2025) with early industry experience looking for a more innovative and hands‑on opportunity
  • A final‑year or postgraduate student studying part‑time who can work alongside their studies

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Research and explore how AI can be applied within a growing business environment, drawing on your academic background and current knowledge of the AI landscape
  • Build and deliver AI‑focused solutions aligned to operational priorities
  • Work with AI‑assistive development tooling such as Claude Code as part of your daily workflow
  • Collaborate with technical stakeholders across platform, web and architecture teams to ensure AI considerations feed into ongoing re‑writes and new builds
  • Contribute to architectural discussions, bringing forward proposals for how AI can improve workflows, document processing, data analysis, and internal tooling
  • Maintain clear documentation so solutions can be developed and built upon over time
  • Stay up to date with developments across AI tooling, frameworks and practical applications
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to development best practice

Essential

  • Degree in AI, Computer Science, Data Science or a related discipline
  • Strong understanding of AI concepts gained through study and practical application
  • SQL experience
  • Evidence of building something outside of university work – personal projects, GitHub contributions, hackathons or experimentation
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical ideas clearly
  • Curious, self‑motivated and comfortable working with loosely defined problems
  • Interest in how AI can solve real‑world business challenges within regulated or operational environments

Desirable

  • Exposure to Azure, AWS or GCP
  • Python experience
  • JavaScript / TypeScript or Node.js experience
  • Experience using AI‑assistive development tools such as Claude Code or GitHub Copilot
  • Understanding of NLP, document processing, RAG or agentic workflows
  • Placement, internship or early industry experience

What You’ll Get In Return

  • Work directly with senior technical leaders and help shape a growing AI capability
  • Real ownership from day one – your ideas won’t sit on the sidelines
  • Opportunity to apply AI in a practical business setting rather than purely academic research
  • Supportive hybrid working model
  • Exposure to real systems, architecture discussions and business challenges
  • A chance to build something meaningful as part of an evolving technology strategy
  • Join a growing, tech‑driven law firm with a genuine focus on innovation
  • Long‑term development opportunities and progression pathways – including study support options (employer‑funded after 12 months)
  • 25 days AL + Bank Holidays, with buy/carry‑over options
  • Employee benefits: death in service, healthcare plan, EAP, counselling, and salary sacrifice
  • Extras: free conveyancing, mortgage advice, staff discounts

If you’re interested in applying AI in a real‑world environment and want to build, experiment and make an impact from day one – apply now!
