This opening provides the successful candidate with the opportunity to join a growing team in a vibrant office based in St Albans, just outside London. The role will be a mix of working from the office and working from home.
About The Position
The Graduate Accountant is a key role in a small but ambitious accounts team, reporting directly to the Financial Controller. The successful candidate’s main responsibilities will include assisting in the smooth running of the day-to-day functions of the accounts department and supporting the business.
What You Will Be Doing
The successful candidate will be confident working collaboratively with other departments and will be involved in all aspects of the accounts department.
This Will Include
- Reconciliation of all bank accounts held by Spreadex utilising online banking services.
- Supplier invoices and payments on Sage.
- Client account movement against cashbook records (ensuring all receipts and payments are correctly recorded).
- Ensuring compliance with the FCA Client Money Rules and broker hedges trading.
- Exposure to treasury management and assistance in the preparation of monthly management accounts and year end statutory accounts.
About You
- This role is ideal for an individual looking to take their 1st step into accountancy.
- Candidates should be educated to a degree level and be keen to work towards an accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
- Culturally, we are looking for a confident, self-motivated and critical thinker with high analytical skills.
- Prior knowledge of the gambling sector is not necessary; however, an interest in sport and finance would be beneficial.
- Excellent attention to detail, with excellent language and numeracy skills.
- The ability to be discreet when dealing with confidential requests.
- Great IT skills, specifically in Microsoft Excel, are a must.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
- Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5:30pm (37.5 hours).
- Hybrid policy: 3 days WFH and 2 days in the office.
- During probation: New starters are expected to be in the office more and will gradually get more WFH days (they should expect to be working in the office 3 days a week during this time). They’ll only get their full 3 days WFH once they’ve passed probation.
