About the Role
Our team of EMC-focused technicians or engineers delivers a comprehensive EMC testing service for new and innovative technology and devices across a wide range of industries. You will take ownership of the set‑up and completion of EMC test projects and provide accurate results to customers.
Shift Pattern
Initial training: Monday‑Friday 8:30am – 5:00pm (37 hours per week). After training, you will rotate between the following shift patterns every two weeks:
- Shift 1 – Monday to Thursday: 8:00am – 4:30pm (1 hr lunch); Friday: 8:00am – 4:00pm (1 hr lunch).
- Shift 2 – Monday to Thursday: 4:00pm – 12:30am (1 hr break); Friday: 4:00pm – 12:00am (1 hr break).
Applicants must hold the right to work in the UK; UK Skilled Worker Visa sponsorship is not offered.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with customers, engineers and project managers to provide EMC testing in both screened enclosure and in‑situ environments.
- Communicate with customers during the test programme, especially when failures occur.
- Maintain data and electronic logbooks for testing.
- Generate test procedures, including photos and measurement‑uncertainty calculations.
- Develop test plans (where required) and produce test reports.
- Contribute to test equipment/method development and evaluation.
- Validate client requirements (including site visits if necessary).
- Assist the sales team by providing technical information to support quote generation.
- Develop specialist expertise in a specific testing area (e.g., rail, marine, radio EMC requirements).
- Provide training to engineers in the chosen specialist area.
Essential Criteria
- A degree‑level (or equivalent) qualification in an engineering subject.
- Experience using test equipment such as a spectrum/network analyser, oscilloscope, signal generator or RF power meter.
- Self‑driven with an enthusiastic approach and willingness to learn and develop technical skills.
- Willingness to work overtime and shift work as required.
- Computer literate with strong IT skills, especially Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and bespoke test systems.
- Comfortable with customer‑facing interactions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Successful candidates must undergo a criminal record check and meet the required security level ‘Security Check (SC)’ before commencing employment.
