About the Role

Are you interested in specialising in Cyber Security? The Cyber Security team is instrumental in protecting the firm’s confidential and commercially sensitive data from breaches and cyber‑attacks. This role sits within the global IT team across London, Manchester, Leeds and Edinburgh, helping ensure our data remains secure.

You Will Build Knowledge In The Following Areas:

  • Security Policies and Procedures – rules and guidelines explaining how to use computers securely, escalation methods and handling of sensitive information.
  • Risk Assessment – identifying and evaluating weaknesses that could be exploited by cyber attackers and recommending ways to reduce those risks.
  • Security Systems – tools and technologies used to protect the firm’s computers, networks and data, such as antivirus software, firewalls and access‑control systems.
  • Network Activity and Security Incidents – monitoring the firm’s network to spot unusual activity, investigating and responding to threats and supporting future prevention.

The Cyber Security Graduate supports cyber security controls and processes, assisting to protect the firm’s information assets and IT infrastructure against internal and external threats.

What a Typical Day Might Look Like:

  • Check security alerts for unusual activity or potential threats and support investigations, gathering information, analysing and documenting findings.
  • Take part in vulnerability scanning, identifying weaknesses and tracking remediation progress.
  • Review and help update security policies and procedures.
  • Collate with IT teams to ensure computers and systems are set up securely and maintained.
  • Research the latest cyber security threats and trends and share insights with the team.
  • Focus on learning and development by attending training sessions or shadowing colleagues.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the firm, asking questions and contributing ideas to keep Addleshaw Goddard’s systems and data safe.
