The Operational Resilience team at CME Group is responsible for mitigating potential impacts to our markets, customers, and employees, ensuring our essential services remain available. As a System Resilience Intern/Associate, you will sit at the intersection of business operations and technology. Based in our Belfast office and reporting to the Director of Systems Resilience, you will gain hands‑on experience in how a global financial leader recovers technology and systems following major incidents. This is a developmental role designed to build your expertise in IT Disaster Recovery (ITDR) and corporate resilience.
Key Responsibilities (Learning & Support)
- Assist in ITDR Readiness: Support the team in ensuring the company meets its Information Technology Disaster Recovery (ITDR) and regulatory obligations.
- Contribute to Strategy: Help maintain and update system resilience strategies and processes in line with organizational requirements.
- Testing & Analysis: Participate in system resiliency testing, help maintain critical documentation, and assist in identifying areas for continuous improvement (gap analysis).
- Documentation: Draft and update resiliency processes, procedures, and step‑by‑step instructions to ensure clarity during system outages.
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Shadow senior team members in partnerships with Technology, Compliance, and other stakeholders during key projects.
- Awareness Campaigns: Support the promotion of Operational Resilience across the firm by assisting with internal communications and training materials.
- Meeting Participation: Attend departmental meetings (Change Management, IT Compliance, etc.) to learn how resilience is integrated into the broader technology lifecycle.
- Issue Tracking: Help document outstanding resilience issues and assist in tracking the progress of remedial actions to completion.
Skills & Requirements
- Foundational Knowledge: A basic understanding of the IT lifecycle or how businesses use technology to deliver services (ideal for recent graduates in IT, Business Tech, or Risk Management).
- Analytical Mindset: An interest in "how things break and how to fix them", with a focus on problem‑solving.
- Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally within a team environment.
- Organizational Skills: A proactive "team player" attitude with the ability to manage tasks effectively and show initiative.
Desirable (But Not Required)
- Familiarity with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides).
- Familiarity with, or an interest in, Gemini and other Google AI/Machine Learning processes and integrations.
- Exposure to (or a desire to learn) ITSM tools or Resilience software (e.g., Salesforce, Fusion Risk Management, or ServiceNow).
- An interest in financial markets and the regulatory environment.
