Overview
Our client is a firm located in the Surrey/White Rock area. They are looking for a Senior Corporate Paralegal to join their team. This role involves overseeing the Corporate Services department. You will oversee a team of 3.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for all aspects of the Corporate Services department, leading multiple client engagements and team members
- Liaise with lawyers on file progress, performing due diligence in identifying risks, deficiencies and material matters
- Deal with clients directly to advise, obtain information, and answer any corporate or commercial related queries
- Prepare, draft and manage basic to complex corporate, commercial and other legal documentation, including but not limited to, transfer of shares and assets, change of officers/directors, incorporations, post-incorporations, amalgamations, post-amalgamations, and corporate reorganizations
- Review, analyze, summarize, update and maintain basic to complex minute books and corporate records including electronic records database (ALF)
- Conduct tax, land title and other legal searches
- Obtain, sort, file and verify documents for completion
- Manage bring forwards and review and prepare invoices, following up on accounts receivables as required
- Manage calendar to schedule meeting and appointments with clients and/or legal team
- Manage electronic and paper client files, ensuring up-to-date client information in corporate database system
- Provide mentorship, guidance and oversight of execution of work of Corporate Legal team
- Review and evaluate work activities of Corporate Legal team, ensuring quality of work standards are consistently met
- Assist lawyers with overflow work, dictation and other files/projects as required
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years experience in paralegal capacity (Corporate Legal department preferred)
- Completion of a recognized paralegal program or equivalent experience and training
- Previous experience with legal software and programs such as ESILaw, BC Online, Automated Legal Forms (ALF) and Land Title and Survey Authority (LTSA)
