Core subject (Maths, English, or Science) SEN / SEND Tutors needed in Dorset to support young people with SEND, SEMH, MLD, and SLD through 1:1 tutoring.

The SEN / SEND Tutor role

  • Provide Maths, English or Science tuition to young people with SEND, SEMH, MLD, SLD or other additional needs referred to Targeted Provision
  • Support those referred by local authorities and schools through flexible, holistic trauma‑informed tutoring and mentoring

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Plan each tutoring session for teaching / tutoring / mentoring
  • Provide holistic and engaging sessions that meet the student's needs and advance their educational and social‑emotional journey
  • Complete lesson reports and provide feedback on the young person's progress

Qualifications

  • Professional Teaching Qualifications (QTS/QTLS)
  • Minimum 2 years of teaching experience
  • Experience working with young people with SEND, SEMH, MLD, SLD or other additional needs
  • Experience, knowledge and understanding of safeguarding processes
  • Enhanced DBS (we can help obtain at cost if needed)
  • Two professional references
  • UK residency and right to work in the UK, even for remote assignments
  • Ability to promote health, safety and well‑being of children and follow safeguarding policies at all times

Employment Status

  • Worker status; short‑term engagements as they arise
  • Contract for service; paid via PAYE
  • No set amount of work or expenses coverage
  • Insurance covered for work you do for us
  • Not a self‑employed tutoring/teaching position
