As part of our Product & Platform team, you’ll play a critical role in designing and shaping solutions that support our clients and drive Target’s technical roadmap forward. Working closely with clients and colleagues across the business, you’ll combine industry expertise, product knowledge and technical design skills to solve business‑critical challenges. You’ll design smart, secure, scalable solutions that make the most of Target’s proprietary platforms while integrating seamlessly with best‑in‑class third‑party technologies. We’re big believers in collaboration, but we have a flexible approach to hybrid working depending on demand. There will also be occasional travel to client sites across the UK as part of this role.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Owning solution designs from concept through to delivery
  • Supporting bids and tenders with strong business, functional and technical expertise to shape winning propositions
  • Documenting compelling, cost‑effective solution designs
  • Partnering with Business Analysts to review requirements and facilitate client workshops
  • Acting as a trusted design authority throughout the project lifecycle
  • Translating designs into clear, actionable guidance for software engineering teams
  • Supporting development, testing, onboarding and operational readiness
  • Sitting on Target’s Design Authority Board, championing best practice and technical governance

What we’re looking for:

  • Subject matter expertise in Financial Servicing (Lending and/or Investments)
  • Proven client‑facing and presentation experience
  • Experience designing to standards and industry patterns, with security by design
  • AS400 / iSeries experience

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Cloud technologies (AWS and/or Azure)
  • IBM Middleware (e.g. IBM i)
  • API integration (e.g. MuleSoft)
  • Delivery methodologies (Agile / Waterfall)
  • Tooling such as JIRA and Confluence
  • SQL scripting or programming
