About the role:
- As our Head of People, you’ll sit on the Senior Leadership Team and play a key role in shaping both our people agenda and wider business strategy.
- You’ll lead the development of a forward-thinking People Strategy, ensuring Target continues to be a place where people can do their best work and feel proud to belong.
- You’ll lead a talented and passionate People Team – ensuring teams work together to create a joined-up, inspiring colleague experience.
- You’ll also be a visible, trusted leader across the business - someone who connects people, brings clarity and ensures we stay true to what ‘good’ looks like.
What you’ll be doing:
- Shaping culture and engagement: Champion an inclusive, high-performing culture where people feel valued, heard and empowered. Drive colleague engagement and ensure we’re creating a consistently great colleague experience.
- Leading strategy and delivery: Develop and deliver our People Strategy, aligned to business goals. Use insight, data and best practice to guide decisions and continually evolve our approach.
- Partnering across the business: Work closely with the CEO, ExCo and Board, advising on all people-related matters. Support leaders across the organisation to build strong teams and great cultures. Strengthen relationships internally and externally - sharing insights and best practice.
- Leading and growing the People function: Inspire, coach and develop a high-performing People Team. Set clear goals, encourage innovation and ensure effective delivery across all areas. Lead the wider UK teams within our parent company, Tech Mahindra – aligning our culture and values.
- Driving excellence in people practices: Ensure best practice across all aspects of HR, Talent, Learning, Engagement and Communication. Lead change and transformation initiatives that positively impact our people. Maintain strong governance, compliance and a risk-aware culture.
- Owning resources and impact: Manage the People Team budget and ensure initiatives deliver meaningful value. Build business cases and ensure strong return on investment for people programmes.

Requirements:
- You’ve built your career around creating great workplaces—and you know what good really looks like.
- You’ll have a CIPD qualification (or equivalent experience).
- A proven track record of building and leading high-performing teams.
- Strong commercial awareness, including budget ownership and financial planning.
- A broad, hands-on background across: Employee Relations & employment law, Talent Acquisition & Recruitment, Learning & Development and organisational growth, Engagement, culture and internal communications, People data, analytics and insight, Change and transformation.
