Are you a commercially minded finance leader who thrives on turning insight into action?

Target Group is looking for a Head of Commercial Finance / FP&A to lead our financial planning and analysis function and play a key role in shaping strategic decision-making across the business.

Reporting to the CFO and forming part of the Finance Senior Leadership Team, you will act as a strategic partner to the CFO, Executive Committee and senior stakeholders, providing high-quality financial insight that supports long-term value creation, strong performance and informed commercial decisions.

About the role

As Head of Commercial Finance / FP&A, you will lead the company’s financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and performance analysis activity.

You will manage a team of three business partners and take ownership of insight-led reporting across business performance, project investment, profitability, cost control and governance.

This is a high-profile role with regular exposure to C-Suite and Board-level stakeholders.

You will be responsible for ensuring the business has the financial visibility, challenge and analysis it needs to make confident decisions and deliver against its strategic objectives.

  • What you’ll be doing
  • Lead the FP&A function as a trusted strategic partner to the CFO, Executive Committee and wider senior leadership team.
  • Deliver clear, actionable financial insight, highlighting risks and opportunities across margin improvement, revenue optimisation and cost efficiency.
  • Own the annual budgeting process, rolling forecasts, formal reforecasts and risks and opportunities reporting.
  • Lead business partnering activity across the organisation, including end-to-end ownership of key P&Ls.
  • Run monthly financial performance reviews, challenging forecasts, tracking KPIs and supporting accountability across business functions.
  • Own and develop the client profitability model, providing insight to support pricing decisions and business performance.
  • Lead project reporting across revenue-generating, investment and non-billable projects, including business case development, variance analysis and governance reporting.
  • Support the CFO with reporting into key governance forums, including Ex Co, Board and parent company reviews.
  • Build strong relationships with C-Suite executives, senior management and parent company colleagues.
  • Lead, motivate and develop a high-performing, commercially focused FP&A team.

About you

We’re looking for an experienced finance leader who combines strong technical capability with commercial curiosity, stakeholder confidence and a passion for continuous improvement.

You will be highly analytical, organised and comfortable operating in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where your insight can make a tangible difference.

  • Qualified accountant status: ACA, ACCA or CIMA.
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Experience business partnering at Executive or Board level.
  • Strong commercial finance experience, including leading planning cycles and driving business performance.
  • Proven team management experience, with the ability to coach, mentor and develop others.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills and strong financial modelling capability.
  • Exposure to SAP would be desirable.
