Tardis Environmental UK Ltd are a well-established portable toilet and tanker hire business operating a large fleet of HGV and LGV vehicles across multiple locations throughout the UK. We provide temporary waste and water solutions ranging from 1,000ltr waste and water storage tanks up to 30,000ltr storage tanks. We are proud members of FORS and hold Gold accreditation.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Transport Planner to support the day-to-day management of our national tanker transport operations. Working closely with the National Transport Manager, this role will play a key part in ensuring transport operations run efficiently, compliantly, and to the highest customer service standards across multiple UK depots. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating daily transport activities, supporting route planning, managing operational issues, and ensuring effective communication between drivers, depots, customers, and internal departments. This is a fast-paced operational role requiring excellent problem-solving ability, strong transport knowledge, and the confidence to make decisions under pressure.

Key Duties

  • Support the day-to-day coordination of national transport operations across multiple depots
  • Assist with route planning and vehicle allocation to maximise operational efficiency
  • Manage and reallocate workloads due to driver absence, vehicle breakdowns, or operational disruptions
  • Monitor service schedules to ensure collections and deliveries are completed efficiently and on time
  • Liaise directly with drivers, customers, sites, and depots to resolve operational issues quickly and effectively
  • Ensure all service failures, delays, or operational concerns are communicated proactively to customers and management
  • Support compliance with driver hours, transport legislation, company policies, and FORS standards
  • Ensure all jobs not completed are rescheduled and prioritised appropriately
  • Monitor transport administration systems and maintain accurate operational records and spreadsheets
  • Assist with incident reporting, accident escalation, and operational investigations where required
  • Coordinate timed deliveries, site restrictions, maps, permits, and special instructions with drivers and depots
  • Ensure proof of delivery paperwork, waste carrier licences, and disposal permits are issued as required
  • Work closely with workshop and fleet teams regarding vehicle availability and operational planning
  • Support performance monitoring across transport operations and escalate recurring operational issues
  • Assist in mentoring and supporting transport administration staff where required
  • Maintain excellent communication across all departments to ensure visibility of operational issues and resolutions
  • Represent the company professionally and maintain excellent customer service standards at all times
  • Carry out any additional operational duties required to support the transport department

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Previous experience within transport planning, transport coordination, or transport administration
  • Experience working within HGV/LGV operations
  • Strong understanding of UK transport operations and driver compliance
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Good geographical knowledge
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Experience managing operational issues and customer escalations
  • Good IT skills including spreadsheets and transport management systems

Desirable:

  • Experience working across multiple depots or national operations
  • Knowledge of FORS standards and transport compliance
  • Experience within tanker, waste, or environmental services operations

You may be asked to carry out additional duties as required, including supporting other operational areas during periods of holiday cover, staff shortages, or increased business demand.
