Tardis Environmental UK Ltd are a well-established portable toilet and tanker hire business that operate a large fleet of HGV and LGV vehicles across various locations situated throughout the UK. We hire temporary waste and water solutions from 1000ltr waste and water storage tanks up to 30,000ltr storage tanks. Currently members of FORS and hold Gold accreditation.

We are currently looking to recruit an HGV Fleet Operations and Planning Coordinator - Tankered Waste and Water based at our Telford Depot.

Hours: Monday to Friday - with a degree of flexibility to suit the needs of the business

Salary: £40,000 per annum

Job Purpose: The HGV Fleet Operations and Planning Coordinator is responsible for efficiently managing the scheduling, routing, and allocation of tankered waste and water vehicles. The role ensures timely service delivery, compliance with environmental and transport regulations, and effective use of fleet and driver resources. This position is critical in supporting operational performance, customer satisfaction, and regulatory compliance in the tankered services sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fleet Planning and Scheduling: Plan and coordinate daily, weekly, and monthly schedules for tankered waste and water collections and deliveries. Allocate vehicles and drivers based on route efficiency, customer requirements, and service priorities. Monitor and adjust schedules in response to operational changes, urgent requests, or vehicle availability.
  • Operations Coordination: Liaise with drivers, depots, and clients to ensure timely and accurate service delivery. Respond proactively to operational issues such as delays, traffic disruptions, or customer requests. Maintain up-to-date records of vehicle locations, route progress, and service completion.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Safety: Ensure operations comply with environmental, transport, and health safety regulations (e.g., waste carriage regulations, ADR, COSHH, tachograph rules). Monitor driver hours and certifications to maintain legal compliance. Support incident reporting and risk management processes for spills, accidents, or contamination events.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Maintain and analyze operational data to identify trends, optimize routes, and improve efficiency. Prepare operational reports for management, including fleet utilization, service performance, and compliance metrics. Use fleet management or route planning software to track vehicles, plan schedules, and improve service reliability.
  • Customer and Stakeholder Management: Communicate with customers regarding scheduling, delays, or service queries. Coordinate with internal teams (sales, dispatch, depot) to align operational plans with business requirements. Provide operational input to support business growth, customer satisfaction, and service expansion.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience in HGV fleet planning or transport operations, preferably in waste management, tankered water, or bulk liquids transport.
  • Knowledge of waste transport regulations and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Experience using fleet management software, route planning tools, and operational reporting systems.
  • Strong organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent route planning and scheduling abilities.
  • Strong coordination and communication skills with drivers, clients, and internal teams.
  • Ability to respond quickly and effectively to operational disruptions.
  • Understanding of HGV regulations, driver compliance, and safe operational practices.

Working Conditions: Office-based with regular communication with drivers, depot staff, and clients. May require flexible working hours to manage operational schedules and emergencies.
