The Role

Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Area Manager to join our team. This is a remote field-based role with responsibility for overseeing the operational performance of our satellite depots across the UK. The position involves regular travel and overnight stays, with accommodation and meal expenses provided. Reporting into senior management, you will ensure that depot operations run efficiently, safely, and in full compliance with transport and company standards, while supporting and developing depot personnel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of multiple satellite depots
  • Conduct regular depot audits to ensure operational excellence and compliance
  • Lead, support, and develop depot teams to achieve business objectives
  • Monitor and maintain compliance with transport legislation, health and safety requirements, and company procedures
  • Support HR-related matters, including employee performance and attendance management
  • Ensure high standards of customer service across all locations
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and productivity
  • Build strong working relationships with depot teams and key stakeholders

About You

The successful candidate will be a highly organised and driven professional with experience within the transport, logistics, or fleet management sector.

Skills & Experience

  • NEBOSH qualification and/or CPC Holder Preferred
  • Strong depot auditing and people management experience
  • Sound knowledge of Health & Safety, transport compliance, and HR processes
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong IT skills, including a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to challenge constructively, influence others, and drive positive change
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to balance customer and business needs
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and successfully manage multiple priorities
  • Full, valid UK Driving Licence
  • Willingness to travel nationwide and stay away from home when required
