TARCG is proud to be recruiting on behalf of a highly respected name in the aviation engineering industry, for the position of B2 Licensed Engineer based at Birmingham Airport. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and type-rated B2 Engineer to step into a leadership-focused role overseeing avionics activities within a dynamic and fast-paced production environment.
Role Overview: Reporting directly to the Head of Production, the B2 Licensed Engineer will work closely with the Lead Avionics Subject Matter Expert (SME) to supervise and guide a skilled team of avionics technicians. This role plays a pivotal part in the success of ongoing modification and production programmes by ensuring technical excellence, compliance, and operational efficiency. You will be the key point of contact for all avionics-related aspects of the programme, providing oversight, inspection, and mentorship while promoting a strong safety culture and continuous improvement mindset.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform detailed inspections in accordance with Boeing Aircraft Corporation specifications
- Interpret technical manuals, schematics, and applicable regulatory documentation
- Monitor task card hours for avionics activities and identify deviations from planning
- Analyse root causes for discrepancies and escalate issues appropriately
- Collaborate with planners, managers, and programme teams to ensure seamless project execution
- Recommend and support the implementation of process improvements
- Lead avionics system testing, troubleshooting, and validation
- Mentor junior team members and promote knowledge sharing across the department
Skills & Experience Required:
- CAA/EASA Part 66 B2 Licence (Essential)
- Type-rated on Boeing 737NG
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in aircraft maintenance
- Strong background in aircraft modification and inspection
- In-depth knowledge of avionics systems
- Proven leadership and team coordination abilities
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Comfortable using MS Office tools for planning and reporting
- Eligible to live and work in the UK
- Able to pass UK security vetting requirements
Mandatory Training (Part-145 Compliance): Candidates must hold, or be willing to complete, the following training:
- Initial and continuation Human Factors
- SFAR Phase 1 & 2 (initial and continuation)
- EWIS Group 1 & 2 (including Group 1 Module G Practical)
- ETOPS
- RVSM
