Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor – London City Airport

Our client, a leading airline operating from London City Airport, is seeking an experienced Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor to lead their line maintenance team. You will oversee a skilled group of licensed engineers maintaining a modern Embraer E190 fleet in a fast-paced, high-frequency airport environment.

Key Details:

  • Basic Pay: £80,509 (from 01 October 2025)
  • Shift Pay (Days & Nights, 5-5-4): £7,500 (from 01 October 2025)
  • Sign-On Bonus: £3,000
  • Total Package: £91,009 plus private healthcare
  • Shift Pattern: 5 on, 5 off, 4 on, 4 off
  • Traffic-Friendly: Shifts designed to avoid peak London rush hour and coincide with times when toll roads are free
  • Team Size: Supervising a team of licensed engineers

Role Purpose:

Provide on-the-day technical leadership, supervising aircraft maintenance activities while ensuring compliance with CAA/EASA regulations, company procedures, and safety standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and participate in line maintenance, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, and defect rectification
  • Act as the primary point of contact for Maintrol and Airport Operations during shifts
  • Coordinate aircraft availability and operational priorities across the shift
  • Maintain accurate shift handovers and communicate effectively with all stakeholders
  • Mentor engineers, mechanics, and apprentices, including competency assessments and coaching
  • Drive a culture of operational excellence, safety, and compliance

Requirements:

  • CAA Part-66 Category B1 or B2 licence with a minimum of 5 years certification experience
  • At least 1 current aircraft type authorisation (preferably Embraer)
  • Embraer E190 type rating desirable (training provided)
  • Valid full UK driving licence (or equivalent)
  • Ability to hold airport restricted zone and airside driving licences

Skills & Capabilities:

  • Strong leadership, people management, and technical decision-making skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet operational deadlines
  • Knowledge of CAA regulations, Safety Management Systems, and industry best practices
  • Effective communication at all levels within the organisation
  • PC literate with experience in engineering and document management systems
