Senior Permanent and Executive Search Consultant
Structures Technician – Birmingham | Full Time | No Travel Required
Contract Type: Permanent
TARCG is proud to be recruiting on behalf of a respected leader in the aerospace engineering sector, for the position of Structures Technician. This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-performing engineering team working on cutting-edge aircraft modification projects.
This is a full-time, site-based role ideal for skilled individuals with a solid background in aircraft structures and sheet metal work, looking to further their career in a fast-paced, safety-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Lead Structures Technician, the successful candidate will be responsible for the structural modification and maintenance of aircraft in line with approved drawings and maintenance data. You will be expected to deliver work to exacting standards while ensuring safety and quality are never compromised.
Responsibilities include:
- Complete removal and strip-down of major structural components
- Installation of complex structural assemblies to precise tolerances
- Reading and interpreting technical drawings, manuals, and regulatory documents
- Applying bonding techniques, fasteners, and sealants in line with technical procedures
- Maintaining tool control and cleanliness within the work area
- Reporting unsafe conditions promptly via appropriate internal channels
- Proactively identifying and communicating any issues affecting work plans, along with recommendations
Skills & Experience Required:
- Completed apprenticeship in Aeronautical Engineering or a military equivalent
- Ideally 2+ years of live aircraft structural/sheet metal experience
- Previous experience in aircraft production or modification is advantageous
- Excellent hand skills with a strong eye for detail
- Good working knowledge of airframe structures and components
- Adaptable, reliable, and a strong communicator
- Eligible to live and work in the UK
- Able to meet the requirements for UK security vetting
Mandatory Training (Part-145 Compliance):
Candidates should possess, or be willing to complete, the following training:
- Initial and continuation Human Factors
- SFAR Phase 1 & 2 (initial and continuation)
- EWIS Group 1 & 2 (initial and continuation)
- ETOPS
- RVSM
