An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and compassionate Assistant SENCO to join a welcoming secondary school in South Staffordshire on a long-term basis, starting as soon as possible. The school is committed to providing high-quality support for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and is seeking a proactive individual to support the SENCO in ensuring all pupils receive the appropriate provision to help them thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the SENCO in the day-to-day management of SEND provision across the school
  • Assist with the identification, assessment and monitoring of students with additional needs
  • Help coordinate and review Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
  • Liaise with teachers, support staff, parents/carers and external agencies
  • Contribute to planning and implementing targeted interventions
  • Maintain accurate records and reports in line with school policies
  • Support staff with strategies and resources to meet individual pupil needs

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND (school-based experience preferred)
  • A good understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and inclusive education
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • A patient, empathetic and proactive approach
  • Relevant qualifications in education, SEND or child development are desirable but not essential
