An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and compassionate Assistant SENCO to join a welcoming secondary school in South Staffordshire on a long-term basis, starting as soon as possible. The school is committed to providing high-quality support for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and is seeking a proactive individual to support the SENCO in ensuring all pupils receive the appropriate provision to help them thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the SENCO in the day-to-day management of SEND provision across the school
- Assist with the identification, assessment and monitoring of students with additional needs
- Help coordinate and review Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
- Liaise with teachers, support staff, parents/carers and external agencies
- Contribute to planning and implementing targeted interventions
- Maintain accurate records and reports in line with school policies
- Support staff with strategies and resources to meet individual pupil needs
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND (school-based experience preferred)
- A good understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and inclusive education
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- A patient, empathetic and proactive approach
- Relevant qualifications in education, SEND or child development are desirable but not essential
