About the Role

Tara Professional Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of a highly specialist school for children and young people aged 3–19 with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD). This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate and experienced SEN teacher to join a well-resourced and supportive school environment where pupils receive highly personalised teaching and care. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging, tailored learning to pupils with a range of complex needs, including SLD, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and other associated conditions.

Candidate Requirements

Essential:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Proven experience teaching pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)
  • Strong understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Knowledge of Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
  • Experience working with pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Desirable:

  • Experience with communication approaches such as PECS, Makaton, or AAC
  • Knowledge of sensory integration strategies
  • Team Teach or equivalent positive behaviour support training
