We are recruiting a committed and experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to join our wonderful School - based in Epping, Essex.
This could be a Part-time or full-time, long-term role, and there is a chance of going permanent with school after 12 weeks for the right candidate.
The Setting
This specialist school provides highly personalised education for pupils with:
- Autism with complex profiles
- Significant communication needs (including non-verbal pupils)
Classes are small, staffing ratios are high, and learning is adapted to meet pupils at their individual developmental levels.
The Role
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Support pupils within a structured, sensory-rich learning environment
- Deliver 1:1 and small-group support
- Assist with personal care where required
- Promote communication development
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff
- Contribute to a safe, calm, and consistent daily routine
Who We're Looking For
Essential:
- Experience working in SEND/SEN settings
- Confidence supporting pupils with MLD (moderate learning disabilities)
- Experience across different age groups (Early Years through Secondary is welcomed)
- A nurturing, calm, and resilient approach
Desirable:
- Experience with sensory-based learning
- Knowledge of alternative communication xgikmsk strategies (PECS, Makaton, visuals)
- Background in care, therapy support, or specialist education
Requirements
- Part or Full-time availability
- DBS Certificate (Enhanced Child & Adult - we can process this for you)
- Able to start ASAP
- 2 years of references
- Willing to complete a trial day or trial week
