Chasetown Civil Engineering is a family-owned, market-leading civil engineering business based in Staffordshire. We deliver high quality and innovative solutions to our clients, specialising in infrastructure, groundworks and related building services with project values ranging between £100,000 and £50m. You will be responsible for supporting and/or managing residential Roads/Sewer and Groundwork sites throughout the Midlands area.

Responsibilities:
  • Supporting with monthly forecast to confirm that resources deployed are targeted to ensure outputs provide a sustainable return.
  • Develop close working relationships with internal stakeholders, including Contracts Managers, Buyers etc.
  • Excellent working relationships with your clients for all Commercial matters.
  • Carrying out timely valuations of work completed on site and ensuring applications for payment are submitted in accordance with each client’s requirements.
  • Identifying, valuing and agreement of any variations from drawing design changes and incidental type works requested on site.
  • Responsible for ensuring COINs system updates to report on progress of your projects.
  • Input and agreement in establishing key procurement and handover dates.
  • Supporting with overseeing the sub-contract procurement process and nurturing sub-contractor relationships.
  • Processing sub-contract payments and managing sub-contractor accounts.
  • Supporting with the production of monthly profit & loss reporting and ensuring compliance with contracted responsibilities.
  • Supporting with the production of monthly Cost Value Reconciliations and sharing this information with key stakeholders.
  • Debt recovery, co-ordinating with QS/SQS to ensure prompt payments from monthly valuations with client QS.
  • On occasions, provide support to estimating with measurement and production of Bill of Quantities (BOQs).
  • Liasing with site teams to pro-actively and efficiently resolve site-based Commercial issues.

  • Relevant experience within a Graduate/Trainee/Junior Quantity Surveyor role.
  • Relevant Commercial degree/apprenticeship/educational background.
  • Strong numerical ability with a minimum of a 6 in GCSE Maths.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Tenacity and passion to do the right thing and get it right first time.
  • Role model the company values to guide behaviours.
  • Takes accountability for decisions and evaluates opportunity to enhance company profitability.
  • Professional with the ability to build trust and credibility with key stakeholders.
