The Contracts Manager will oversee multiple construction sites, ensuring developments are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to Cameron Homes' high-quality standards. This role is pivotal in driving operational excellence and providing strong leadership to site teams, fostering a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Key Role Responsibilities
- Responsible for overseeing daily operations across multiple developments.
- Accountable for ensuring all projects meet programme timelines and key milestones.
- Monitoring construction progress and resolving any issues that may impact delivery.
- Coordinating effectively and working closely with internal teams including Technical, Commercial, Land, and Sales.
- Responsible for writing build programmes in accordance with agreed strategies from Head of Production and ensuring they are up to date and delivery to build programme across all sites.
- Accountable for setting up new developments in readiness for the site teams to progress management and development of the project, in readiness for handover to the responsible Site Management team.
- Pre-plan developments in line with programmes, targets & objectives.
- Overseeing and ensuring all homes are built to Cameron Homes' quality standards.
- Follow up, recommend and agree procedure changes to maintain and improve customer satisfaction, where required.
- Promoting and enforcing the highest standards of Health & Safety across all sites.
- Effectively lead, support, and develop Site Managers and wider site teams to ensure quality and performance is achieved.
- Monitor and review performance of direct reports and identify training and development needs to ensure programmes are met in an efficient commercially focused way.
- Hold regular site meetings and encourage a positive, solutions-focused culture.
- Responsible for reporting on progress of accountable sites, represent production at meetings, be the link between the office and the site teams.
- Manage subcontractors effectively, ensuring strong working relationships and performance standards.
- Work closely with the Commercial team to monitor build costs and ensure efficient resource utilisation.
- Work with the Commercial team to review variations, valuations, and procurement decisions.
- Champion a customer-first approach throughout the build process and support the Customer Care team in resolving any post-handover issues, and ensuring homes are presented to a high standard at handover.
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience as a Contracts Manager within housebuilding.
- Strong understanding of NHBC standards, Building Regulations, and construction best practice.
- Demonstrates a strong leadership voice to guide production teams, set clear direction, and drive effective decision-making.
- Ability to manage multiple sites and teams simultaneously.
- Solid knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and site management protocols.
- Commercial awareness and ability to manage budgets and timelines effectively.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
- Calm under pressure with a proactive, solution-driven mindset.
- Committed to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Approachable and collaborative, with strong people-management skills.
