Press break operator
Location: Danbury, Essex – CM3
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Salary: £16 - £18 per week, depending on experience
Hours: Monday–Friday, 40hr week
The Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Press Brake Operator to join an established engineering and sheet-metal manufacturing business based in Danbury, Essex.
This is a permanent opportunity for someone with previous experience operating CNC press brake machinery within a sheet-metal fabrication or engineering environment.
You will be responsible for producing accurate, high-quality components from engineering drawings while maintaining excellent standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Operating CNC press brake machinery to bend and form sheet-metal components
- Setting and operating machinery to produce components to specification
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
- Selecting and changing tooling where required
- Adjusting machine settings to achieve accurate bends and dimensions
- Carrying out first-off and in-process quality checks
- Working with materials including mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium
- Checking finished components using appropriate measuring equipment
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment
- Working to production schedules and maintaining quality standards
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will have:
- Previous experience as a Press Brake Operator, Press Brake Setter/Operator, CNC Press Brake Operator, CNC Folder Operator or similar
- Experience working within a sheet-metal, fabrication or engineering environment
- The ability to read and understand engineering drawings
- Experience operating CNC press brake machinery
- Good attention to detail and a strong focus on quality
- The ability to work independently and as part of a production team
- A reliable and positive approach to work
Setter experience would be advantageous but is not essential if you have strong Press Brake operating experience.
