Senior Engineer, Payout Network

We’re building the world’s leading cross-border fintech for emerging markets - empowering families, fueling local economies, and changing how millions access financial services. Since our launch in 2019, we have transformed how money moves across borders with our operations spanning 6 out of 7 continents and covering both the busiest and most underserved (remittance) corridors. We tapped into a massive shift - from banks to phones - bringing digital finance to places where traditional systems never reached. The next stage of growth will fuel a network of services and products especially designed to make money more accessible to diaspora communities including local cards, and additional savings and payments features.

We are looking for a Senior Engineer to join our growing engineering team, and build out our backend third party integration systems as we scale. You will work closely with Product, Operations, Customer Support, Growth and other functions to design and build out a reliable, performant, and secure platform for handling remittances across countries. As an early member of the team, we hope you will also have a lot of impact on our team culture, processes and norms.

This is a backend-focused role, but you will have plenty of opportunities to work across the stack to bring Taptap Send's industry-leading product to new countries. We’re an encouraging environment that values both teamwork and autonomy, and have many exciting upcoming challenges, including:

• Scaling up to handle increased volume and complexity
• Helping our analysts derive business and product insights to drive growth and retention
• Building internal tools for our customer support and acquisition efforts

Your Responsibilities:

• Build out unified interface encapsulating dozens of third party payment integrations
• Work on one of the pillar revenue centers of the organization
• Take ownership of backend system architecture and implementation
• Build performant and resilient data flows; keeping security in mind during every step
• Work closely with product team to regularly ship working features
• Work in an iterative fashion
• Evaluate and deliver timeline estimates

Requirements:

• 7+ years of professional experience building backend systems
• Proficiency with Kotlin or Java / JVM
• Proficiency with PostgreSQL
• Experience with AWS: S3, SQS, SNS, Lambda, etc.
• Experience implementing and managing elaborate integrations with third-party APIs
• Experience working on systems that have real-world performance and reliability constraints
• Experience developing software in a collaborative, multi-functional, and fast-paced environment
• Strong communication and ability to manage conflicting priorities, setting expectations with stakeholders and be a driving force

Ideally:

• Experience working with Infrastructure as Code technologies, like Terraform and Ansible
• Experience with SRE or similar infrastructure work
• Experience with Data Engineering concepts and workflows
• High personal code/development standards (code review, unit testing, documentation, etc.)
