A growing technology company is looking for a freelance design engineer to support the development and production scaling of innovative consumer products. This is a North West UK-based, part-time contract, Outside IR35 with a competitive hourly rate. The successful applicant will be working with a small multidisciplinary team across concept development, prototyping, supplier coordination, and manufacturing readiness.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and refine product and packaging concepts for manufacture
- Produce CAD models, technical drawings, and prototype specifications
- Support testing and production integration activities
- Coordinate suppliers and partners
- Assist with tooling, assembly methods, and production process improvements
- Help transition products from prototype through manufacture to scaled production
Experience Required
- Background in product design, mechanical engineering, or packaging development
- Experience working with manufacturers and production environments
- Strong Solidworks experience
- Understanding of DFM and manufacturing processes
- Practical hands-on prototyping and problem-solving ability
