My client, a well-established IT solutions provider, is looking for a Junior IT Project Engineer to join their growing team. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to develop your technical expertise through hands-on experience, with a clear progression path into a senior engineering role.
The Role
This hybrid position combines onsite helpdesk support with professional services project delivery, ensuring a varied and engaging workload. Initially, you will work closely with senior engineers, shadowing them on projects to gain a deep understanding of technical implementations.
Key Responsibilities – Helpdesk & Onsite Support:
- Act as the primary onsite engineer for technical issues that cannot be resolved remotely.
- Provide direct support to clients, ensuring all IT-related problems are logged and managed efficiently.
- Escalate complex issues where necessary while maintaining clear communication with clients.
- Work with third-party suppliers and vendors as required.
- Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations and client interactions.
Key Responsibilities – Professional Services Engineering:
- Assist in delivering at least 1-2 IT infrastructure projects per month, increasing as your expertise grows.
- Work alongside project managers to ensure work is completed on time and within scope.
- Create detailed technical documentation, including Scopes of Work (SOW).
- Adapt to challenges during project implementation and provide agile solutions.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams and clients before, during, and after project completion.
Skills & Experience Required
- Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in IT support within a corporate or services environment.
- Hands-on experience with Windows 7/8/10, PC hardware troubleshooting, and MacOS support.
- Good working knowledge of Active Directory, Office 365, and Exchange.
- Basic understanding of networking concepts such as VLANs, patching, and NTFS permissions.
- A full UK driving license and access to a vehicle.
Desirable Qualifications (Not Essential):
- Experience working with Microsoft Server OS (2008/2012/2016).
- Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, N+, MS-900, MS-100, MS-101.
- Familiarity with Ubiquiti, Meraki, Netgear, and enterprise-level security solutions.
- Prior experience in a Managed Service Provider (MSP) environment.
