We are looking for an experienced Finance Manager to take ownership of the day‑to‑day finance function across a diverse group of businesses. Reporting directly to the Group Chairman, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity and timeliness of financial information. This is a hands‑on role combining technical accounting expertise with leadership, continuous improvement and strong stakeholder engagement. Up to £50,000 per annum.
As Finance Manager, you will be responsible for the smooth running of the finance function, with key responsibilities including:
- Month‑end and management accounts
- Leading the month‑end close process and ensuring all ledgers are closed accurately and on time
- Preparing monthly management accounts by the 15th of each month, including detailed variance analysis against budget
- Producing and issuing monthly management account packs and responding to related queries
- Completing balance sheet reconciliations and escalating any concerns where required
- Financial control and reporting
- Maintaining a strong internal control environment and continuously reviewing processes for improvement
- Driving enhancements in commercial reporting and financial performance
- Supporting the development of annual business plans across the group
- Purchase ledger, payroll and cash management
- Overseeing sales and purchase ledger activities, ensuring accurate processing in line with SOPs
- Completing daily sales and bank reconciliations
- Ensuring weekly wages and monthly salaries are processed accurately and reconciled to the balance sheet
- Monitoring debtor balances and ensuring outstanding debts are chased appropriately
- Stakeholder and external liaison
- Acting as a key point of contact for banks, HMRC, auditors and other external finance partners
- Supporting the year‑end audit process and working closely with external consultants
- Policies, procedures and compliance
- Reviewing, maintaining and updating finance‑related SOPs
- Ensuring documentation is filed in line with HMRC and GDPR requirements
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- A recognised accountancy qualification (ACMA / ACCA / ACA)
- At least 3 years’ experience in a similar Finance Manager or senior finance role
- Strong working knowledge of Sage 200
- A degree (2:1 or above)
- Advanced IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Excellent communication, organisation and time‑management skills
