About Tangent

At Tangent we work with large enterprises from IWG plc to SAP & Aviva, to set their strategic direction, build future‑ready digital experiences and transform their businesses. We’re an agency spanning strategy, consultancy, design, engineering and project management, with studios in London, Newcastle, Poznań, Cape Town, Lahore and Cairo.

About the team and role

At Tangent, we believe in delivering "executable strategies" – strategy that is grounded in reality, drives results and delivers real change for our client’s organisations. As a consultant, you are foundational to how we deliver upon this vision. In this role, you will help build client digital strategies, plot our roadmaps to deliver them and transform their businesses through the design of new business operating models and delivery of pragmatic change programmes. This role is particularly well suited for consultants who enjoy working with large organisations but are looking for something more entrepreneurial than traditional consulting firms. It is particularly suited to those who have experience at larger consultancies and want greater responsibility earlier in their careers. At Tangent, you will work closely with senior client stakeholders, own meaningful pieces of work and play a direct role in growing and shaping our consulting practice (+ wider business!).

What you’ll be doing

  • Acting as a client strategist: Working with clients to identify challenges and opportunities to build out evidence on why they need to transform when delivering digital. Setting client digital strategies to capture market demand, capitalise on the latest technology trends and ultimately deliver value to their business. Building both strategic roadmaps and tactical plans to deliver client strategies, digital estates and specific products. Build out clear business cases to help justify investment in new products or transformation initiatives.
  • Transforming client businesses: Definition of organisational structures to ensure that decisions can be made correctly, operational capabilities are delivered at the right level (e.g. global vs. local) and governance measures are set up correctly. Design and re‑engineering of business processes in‑line with technology/business use cases. Recommendation of new roles, skillsets and competencies required to deliver digital technologies within an evolving business landscape. Development of change management strategies to ensure that businesses are ready to implement new ways of working and technologies.
  • Owning project elements: Owning of specific consulting workstreams or packages of work on a given client. Supporting senior consultants with client solution development and overarching account strategy. Supporting senior consultants and wider programme stakeholders with the creation of delivery methodologies to ensure that your specific workstreams or packages of work are setup optimally (inc. the subsequent reporting).
  • Delivering great work: Production of information gathering exercises (surveys, interviews and workshops) to suit a client’s specific way of working and their subsequent delivery. Analysing qualitative and quantitative data sets and synthesis into insights and recommendations. Creating high‑quality deliverables and presenting them to senior client teams to gain buy‑in.
  • Helping to grow the practice: Creating thought‑leadership to help businesses navigate the world of digital transformation. Contributing to the development of our reference consulting frameworks (e.g. digital strategy framework, business case framework, reference operating model).

What we are looking for

  • Startup mindset: Someone who thrives in ambiguity, likes to work at pace and is happy wearing multiple hats.
  • Consulting/professional services experience: Someone with at least 2–3 years in a consulting role at a consulting firm or within the professional services team of a technology company (the role expectations can be adjusted if you are the right candidate and have less experience).
  • Enterprise technology experience: An understanding of enterprise technology and experience working with stakeholders to deliver managed business change programmes alongside their implementation.
  • MarTech know‑how: Experience working across the Marketing Technology landscape, particularly around online platforms (web, app, CRM and more recently, AI‑led CX).
  • A team player: To be successful in this role you must be a team player and be willing and able to get stuck in to deliver great work.
  • Effective communication skills: Clear and concise communication skills, vital for conveying complex ideas and strategies to clients and team members.
  • A problem solver: Proven ability to analyse complex business challenges, identify root causes and develop solutions that drive real change.
  • Strong relationship skills: Strong interpersonal skills to establish and nurture client relationships.
  • An adaptive personality: Willingness to adapt to evolving client needs and industry trends, continuously learning and expanding expertise to deliver high quality work.
  • Attention to detail: Meticulous attention to detail in all aspects of consulting engagements, ensuring accuracy and quality in deliverables and recommendations.
  • Time Management: Effective time management skills to prioritise tasks, meet project deadlines and ensure timely delivery of work.

The role is a great opportunity for someone who wants to make their mark, helping to build a practice area from the ground up and have the chance to work closely senior client leadership teams, something that may not be possible (so early on in your career) at bigger advisory firms.
