Qualifications, Training and Experience Required:

  • Minimum NVQ Level 3 in Childcare or equivalent
  • Prior experience in a similar role in a formal childcare setting, or the desire and ability to progress from Nursery Practitioner to Room Leader/Deputy
  • Sound EYFS knowledge and experience
  • Working knowledge of OFSTED standards
  • Ability to work well in partnership with parents/agencies
  • An ability to organise own work and use initiative
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • People management skills with the ability to lead and motivate a staff team, organise the team’s work and assume responsibility for the same
  • Working knowledge and understanding of equal opportunities

Responsibilities:

  • Provide a safe environment for children
  • Support children’s learning and development
  • Perform daily, weekly and monthly checks around the nursery
  • Help with meal preparation
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with local schools and the community
  • Support children’s behaviour and act as a role model
  • Ensure the environment is stimulating and appropriate, including equal opportunities
  • Assist with the day-to-day general management of the nursery and uphold Policies & Procedures alongside EYFS and statutory guidelines
  • Work closely with the Nursery Manager to ensure the nursery provides the best possible standards of care and education
