Job Purpose
- To be responsible for the development and daily support of the After School Club, providing a safe, caring and stimulating environment for children.
- Support club bookings. Ensuring that all relevant records are maintained, and queries are escalated to the After School Play Worker Supervisor, headteacher or administrator.
- To ensure health and safety and food hygiene requirements are met within the statutory guidelines and appropriate first aid stocks are maintained, and incidents recorded.
- To report any health and safety concerns to the headteacher immediately.
- To work in partnership with parents and carers, to promote the wellbeing of children.
- To ensure end of day collection arrangements are clear and in accordance with school and safeguarding procedures.
- Planning and implementation of the daily activities ensuring that children’s needs are met and the programme is suitable and varied.
- Prepare food and provide healthy snacks. Maintaining cost effectiveness and high standards of hygiene at all times.
- To assist with personal care if applicable.
Key Accountabilities and Tasks
- Support delivery: Monitoring and maintaining a programme of activities maintaining supplies of materials and equipment.
- Assist with the delivery of relevant activities. Support individual children’s needs, behaviour and wellbeing.
- May carry out personal care routines as appropriate.
- Planning & Organising: Support the After School Play Worker Supervisor to plan and deliver activities for all pupils.
- Policy and Compliance: Adhere to established standards of service delivery to support any associated regulatory or technical compliance requirements.
- Work with others: Receive and respond to everyday enquiries from parents and colleagues to provide a professional, timely, courteous and effective service.
- Report any concerns, problems or incidents, e.g. safeguarding, behaviour in accordance with relevant reporting procedures.
- Resources: Support the After School Play Worker Supervisor to plan and prepare a daily food menu suitable for all children’s dietary requirements and aligned to Food Standards. Maintaining high standards of hygiene at all times.
- Analysis, Reporting & Documentation: Support the After School Play Worker Supervisor or senior staff to provide data for reports.

Role Summary
Roles at this level typically provide practical support as part of a team. They will carry out a range of practical activities using knowledge of professional standards, values and practice, together with a broad understanding of learning strategies. The work is within established processes and procedures and while it may not be subject to direct supervision, guidance is readily available. They will be expected to organise their own workload and set their own priorities within short, e.g. day-to-day or week-to-week timescales, usually reacting to clear deadlines or processes. They support more senior staff by covering specific aspects of the teaching/learning programme and will be fully versed in all the procedures of their specialism. They may be involved in guiding/supervising the work of more junior staff, as well as deputising in the supervisor’s absence.
