We are looking for an experienced and motivated Project Manager to lead the delivery of our Communities Capital Programme. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference by delivering improvements to key community facilities across the district, including play areas, parks, sports pitches and public conveniences. You will manage projects from concept through to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard.
Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of capital projects from inception to completion
- Lead procurement and manage contractors and suppliers
- Develop project plans, budgets and timelines, and monitor delivery
- Engage with residents, councillors and stakeholders to shape projects
- Deliver community engagement activities such as meetings and consultations
- Manage project budgets and financial reporting
- Ensure compliance with health and safety, planning and regulatory requirements
- Report progress to senior managers and elected members
Who we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who can bring strong project management experience and a passion for delivering community improvements.
Qualifications
- Proven experience of managing projects, ideally within a capital or construction environment
- Experience of procurement, contract management and working with contractors
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and experience working in partnership
- Excellent organisational, problem-solving and communication skills
- A relevant qualification or equivalent experience (PRINCE2 or similar preferred)
- Ability to manage budgets and deliver value for money
- The ability to manage multiple projects and work to tight deadlines
- Full driving licence and ability to travel across the district
- Flexibility to attend occasional evening meetings for community engagement activities
