At Foster + Partners, we don’t just design world-class architecture — we create environments where ideas are shared, decisions are made, and global teams connect in real time. From high-profile client presentations and leadership town halls to live-streamed design reviews and hybrid events across continents, our AV environments play a critical role in how the practice operates every day.
We’re now looking for an Audio Visual Event Technician to join our AV Team — a hands-on, fast-paced role for someone who thrives in live environments, loves problem-solving under pressure, and takes pride in delivering flawless event experiences. This is an opportunity to sit at the centre of a global design studio, supporting high-visibility events and working with industry-leading technology in a setting where quality and professionalism genuinely matter.
This role sits within Foster + Partners’ AV Services team, delivering white-glove AV support across multiple event spaces. You’ll be a key technical lead for live and hybrid events — responsible for setup, operation, troubleshooting and delivery — ensuring everything from sound and vision to streaming and connectivity runs seamlessly. You’ll work closely with event coordinators, internal stakeholders and external vendors, helping translate event objectives into reliable technical delivery. From rehearsals and pre-event testing through to live execution, you’ll be trusted to own the experience end-to-end. This is a practical, visible role where your expertise directly supports senior leadership, project teams and international collaboration.
What you’ll be doing:
- Acting as a primary AV contact for events, coordinating technical requirements from planning through delivery
- Setting up, operating and supporting live and hybrid events, including sound, video, lighting and streaming
- Delivering reliable live streaming across Microsoft Teams, Webex and Zoom
- Managing and operating AV systems including Cisco and Q-SYS, alongside Crestron / Extron environments
- Running pre-event testing and rehearsals, identifying risks early and aligning stakeholders on expectations
- Troubleshooting technical issues in real time during live events
- Managing AV equipment including audio mixers, microphones, displays, projectors, video walls and codecs
- Supporting control systems and IT connectivity (Windows/macOS, Wi-Fi, hardline networking, DHCP/static IP)
- Carrying out regular equipment maintenance and contributing to continuous technical improvement
- Supporting the wider AV team during non-event periods and assisting with general operations
- Maintaining equipment safely and professionally, in line with Foster + Partners standards
What we’re looking for:
- Around 2+ years’ experience in an AV Event Technician (or similar) role
- Proven experience running live AV events end-to-end
- Strong knowledge of sound systems and live streaming across Teams, Webex and Zoom
- Experience working with Cisco and Q-SYS AV systems
- Solid understanding of professional AV environments, including:
- Audio mixers, wireless microphones and recording systems
- Video switching, displays, projectors and video walls
- Control systems (Q-SYS / Crestron / Extron)
- Windows and macOS environments, networking and video codecs
Why Foster + Partners:
Because this isn’t a typical AV role. At Foster + Partners, you’ll support globally visible work, collaborate with exceptional teams, and operate in a studio where standards are genuinely high. You’ll be trusted with responsibility, exposed to cutting-edge environments, and given the opportunity to grow within a world-leading design practice. If you enjoy live environments, thrive on technical challenge, and want your work to directly support global collaboration and iconic projects — this is a rare opportunity to do just that.
