Kickstart your engineering career at one of the most iconic names in architecture and design. At Foster + Partners, our work spans the globe — from cultural landmarks and supertall towers to zero-carbon cities and next-generation workplaces. Now, we're looking for the next generation of mechanical engineers to join us and shape the future of the built environment.
You’ll be part of our Environmental Engineering team, where mechanical design, sustainability, and innovation converge. Working within a close-knit group of MEP specialists and building services engineers, you’ll help deliver intelligent, high-performance systems that support some of the most ambitious and complex architectural projects in the world.
At Foster + Partners, you won’t just be learning — you’ll be contributing. From day one, you’ll be involved in the full project lifecycle, from concept to construction. You’ll collaborate with world-class architects, engineers, and designers, developing technical expertise while gaining hands-on experience in digital design, environmental modelling, and integrated systems thinking.
Our structured graduate programme is designed to fast-track your development — with dedicated mentorship, CPD support, and real project responsibility. Whether you’re presenting to clients, coordinating with consultants, or exploring new sustainable technologies, you’ll be supported to grow into a confident, well-rounded engineer.
What you’ll be doing:
- Designing and delivering mechanical systems as part of MEP and building services packages
- Supporting senior engineers with drawings, calculations, modelling, and reports
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated, integrated design
- Embracing BIM, parametric workflows, and environmental analysis tools
- Engaging with sustainability strategies and low-energy solutions
- Developing your technical, digital, and consultancy skills through structured training
What we’re looking for:
- A degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering (or similar)
- Passion for sustainable design, environmental performance, and digital engineering
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Knowledge of CIBSE and ASHRAE guidelines
- Some familiarity with software such as Revit, IES, or coding tools (e.g., Python, Dynamo) is a plus
- A proactive, curious mindset and a desire to shape the future of design engineering
This is a rare opportunity to learn from the best while making a meaningful impact on globally significant projects. If you're ready to start your career with a studio that blends design innovation with technical excellence — apply now and join Foster + Partners.
