We are working with a well-established client who is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Design Engineer to join their growing engineering team. This role is ideal for someone with strong SolidWorks experience and a proven background working within a manufacturing environment. You will be responsible for designing, developing and improving products from concept through to production.
Your responsibilities as a Design Engineer:
- Create 3D models, assemblies and detailed engineering drawings using SolidWorks
- Develop innovative design solutions that meet customer and manufacturing requirements
- Collaborate closely with production, quality and procurement teams
- Support prototype development, testing and validation activities
- Ensure designs are optimised for manufacturability (DFM) and cost efficiency
- Maintain accurate documentation, including BOMs and technical specifications
- Participate in design reviews and continuous improvement initiatives
To be successful as a Design Engineer you will have:
- Proven experience as a Design Engineer or similar role
- Strong proficiency in SolidWorks (essential)
- Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, fabrication, injection moulding, etc.)
- Ability to interpret technical specifications and engineering drawings
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities
