An excellent opportunity has arisen with our Ipswich based manufacturing client for an experienced Supply Chain Manager. The successful applicant will manage and oversee all purchasing and logistics activity. As a Supply Chain Manager, you will play a pivotal role in supporting your team to achieve both personal and organisational goals. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills, a background in manufacturing and engineering, and a passion for driving operational excellence.

Job Purpose

  • Facilitate communication between the purchasing and production planning teams to ensure seamless coordination of materials and production schedules.
  • Evaluate and assess suppliers, request quotes, and negotiate lead times to ensure timely availability of required items.
  • Process purchase orders through the company's MRP (Material Requirements Planning) system, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all transactions.
  • Maintain and update the purchase order processing list, ensuring that all orders are tracked and processed appropriately.
  • Oversee goods inward processes, addressing any discrepancies, resolving issues promptly, and assisting the Finance Manager with supplier invoice queries.
  • Monitor and manage stock requirements, updating stock records and inventory levels as necessary to meet business needs.
  • Provide production teams with regular updates on priority items, availability of materials, and any changes to delivery timelines.
  • Manage logistics operations, ensuring accurate and timely import and export documentation is completed in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Respond to email and telephone enquiries from both existing and potential customers, providing information on products, spare parts, and service requirements.
  • Proactively identify areas for improvement within purchasing, logistics, and admin processes and implement changes as required to improve efficiency.
