We are working with a well-established engineering business seeking a Project Design Engineer based in Ipswich. This is an excellent, diverse role for someone who can work independently and as part of a team, providing mechanical design and engineering support across the business while contributing to product development and technical advancement.
Key responsibilities are:
- Produce 3D CAD models (Autodesk Inventor) and 2D drawings (AutoCAD)
- Ensure designs are manufacturable and meet functional requirements.
- Manage projects from sales order to commissioning, including BOMs, layout drawings, and specifications.
- Undertake in-house testing, support factory testing, and assist with on-site commissioning.
- Provide technical support for internal teams, service engineers, and client queries.
- Prepare and maintain project documentation, spares drawings, and O&M manuals, ensuring compliance.
- Assist with inspections and warranty investigations as required.
Candidate requirements:
- Previous experience in a mechanical design engineering role
- Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Product Design, or similar.
- Strong mathematics and physics skills.
- Proficient in Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
- Organised, methodical, and able to work independently.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Design Engineer to work on technically challenging projects, providing design solutions and supporting business growth. 37.5 hours per week with half day on Friday.
