We are seeking an experienced and proactive Health, Safety & Facilities Manager to lead and manage all aspects of health, safety, and site facilities within a busy manufacturing environment based in Ipswich. This is a key role responsible for ensuring full compliance with UK legislation, maintaining a safe working environment, and overseeing the effective management of site facilities and contractors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the site Health & Safety management system, ensuring full compliance with UK H&S legislation and company procedures
- Oversee risk assessments, COSHH, safe systems of work, and permit-to-work systems
- Chair Health & Safety Committee meetings, track actions, and ensure completion
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, carrying out root cause analysis and implementing corrective and preventive actions
- Manage statutory inspections and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) for building services and safety-critical equipment
- Coordinate all facilities and building maintenance activities
- Manage contractors on site, including selection, RAMS review, inductions, and safe working practices
- Maintain accurate and controlled H&S and facilities documentation, logs, and records
- Support internal and external audits, ensuring actions are completed effectively
Applicants will ideally have:
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) is required; NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) is desirable
- IOSH membership (or working towards) is desirable
- Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and best practice
- Experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Proven ability to manage contractors and coordinate multiple projects
- Confident in incident investigation and implementing long-term solutions (CAPA processes)
- Strong communication and organisational skills
