We are recruiting a Fitter / Welder / Machinist for our client who is a long-established engineering manufacturer in Ipswich. With a strong focus on customer service, technical expertise, and getting things right first time. This is a varied, hands-on multi skilled Fitter / Welder/Machinist role for someone with strong engineering experience who enjoys working across multiple disciplines. You’ll support the manufacture of machinery and spare parts to high standards, performing fitting, welding, fabrication, machining, and occasional site work.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, fit, and assemble sub-assemblies and full machines
- Perform testing, fault finding, and inspections
- Welding & Fabrication
- Work accurately to technical drawings
- Machining (milling and turning components)
- There may be the opportunity to do some client site-based machine installation and commissioning
- Inspect equipment before use and follow all Health & Safety procedures
Previous Qualifications/Experience Required
- Engineering apprenticeship or relevant engineering qualifications (preferred)
- Or 5+ years in a similar role (if qualified)
- 10+ years in a similar role (if unqualified)
- Hands-on experience using a range of tools
- Forklift and overhead crane certification (advantageous)

- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Good attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
- Able to work calmly under pressure
- Confident, friendly, and professional approach
- Computer literate and able to multitask
