Reports to: Registered Service Manager / Deputy

Role

To provide safe, consistent and relationship-based support to young people aged 16-18 within supported accommodation.

This role is about more than overseeing shifts. It is about building meaningful relationships, understanding each young people's journey, and helping them move towards positive, realistic and sustainable outcomes.

As a Senior Support Worker, you will lead with empathy, model professionalism and create an environment where young people feel heard, respected and encouraged to grow.

Key Responsibilities

Safeguarding & Advocacy

  • Act as safeguarding lead on shift
  • Recognise and respond to risk, including exploitation
  • Ensure concerns are recorded and reported appropriately
  • Advocate for young people's safety and wellbeing

Relationship-Based Practice

  • Take time to build trust and consistent relationships
  • Understand each young people's strengths, goals and challenges
  • Support them to develop independence at a pace that is right for them
  • Encourage engagement in education, employment and training
  • Promote confidence, resilience and positive decision-making

Leadership on Shift

  • Coordinate shifts and provide clear guidance to staff
  • Mentor Support Workers and model best practice
  • Maintain calm, consistent leadership during challenging situations

Planning & Recording

  • Contribute to support plans and risk assessments
  • Maintain clear, accurate and reflective records
  • Monitor progress towards outcomes
  • Minimum 2 years' experience supporting young people
  • Strong safeguarding knowledge
  • Passion for supporting young people to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Ability to build trusting, professional relationships
  • Experience managing challenging behaviour
  • Level 3 qualification (or working towards)
  • Enhanced DBS with childrens barred list check
