The Role We’re seeking a dedicated and passionate Climate Change and Environmental professional to spearhead our council’s commitment to a sustainable future. This key role will drive our efforts to reduce carbon emissions, mitigate climate change, and enhance our local environment. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement strategies to reduce the council’s carbon footprint and achieve climate emergency targets. Identify and secure external funding for innovative environmental projects, such as energy efficiency upgrades, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and heat network development. Manage and optimise the council’s utility consumption and billing processes. Coordinate the development and implementation of environmental policies and initiatives. Represent the council at regional and national forums, collaborating with other local authorities and stakeholders. Oversee the Climate & Energy Technical Support Officer and ensure compliance with environmental regulations. Analyse data, produce reports, and present findings to key stakeholders. Promote environmental awareness through public outreach and educational campaigns. About You The Ideal Candidate: Qualified to degree level. A strong understanding of climate change issues and environmental best practices. Proven experience in project management, funding applications, and policy development. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A collaborative approach and ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
